On Thursday, Rep. Todd Rokita (R-Ind.) issued a warning to Robert Mueller and his ongoing investigation: “provide evidence of collusion or end [the] investigation.”
Rokita has introduced a House resolution demanding Mueller provide the evidence to the House of Representatives or he is to end his investigation within 30 days. “The investigation has likely cost the American taxpayers over $17 million,” he said.
Rokita further explained the reasoning behind his resolution in a press release:
The Mueller investigation has dragged on for nearly a year at a cost of tens of millions of dollars without producing a shred of evidence of collusion—the matter it was tasked with investigating in the first place. I expect a valid progress report within the next 30 days or the investigation should be terminated.
No one in government should be without accountability, and for many Americans, this investigation looks more like an attempt by the Washington elite to destroy President Trump with innuendo, leaks, and baseless allegations than to provide justice.
Rokita has been a frequent critic of Mueller’s team and has even claimed that the investigation is politically biased. “He’s not a trusted source. He’s not going to be a neutral umpire,” Rokita said in April. “That probe should end because it has found nothing.”
In a press release, Rokita states that he “believes in the rule of law, and accountability for those tasked with investigating alleged violations of the law.”
